Red White and Blue Matcha Summer Bliss Recipe:Hibiscus Matcha Tea Smoothie Refresher with Fresh Berries and on top of Vegan Coconut Ice Cream

Serves 6 medium 1 cup size portions

Ingredients:

  1. 2 Tbsp (5g) of Sugimoto America Organic Hibiscus Matcha
  2. 1 Cup Water
  3. 8 Medium Strawberries (destemmed)- save 3 for presentation
  4. ~12 Ice Cubes
  5. 1 Pint Haagen Dazs Non-Dairy Coconut Caramel Ice Cream
  6. 1 Cup Fresh Blueberries
  7. Fresh Basil Leaves

Directions:

  1. Combine SA Hibiscus Matcha with water and thoroughly mix
  2. Add the SA Hibiscus Matcha water mix to the blender and add 5 strawberries and ice cubes
  3. Blend until achieving a slushie consistency and then set aside
  4. Add 2 small scoops of ice cream to each bowl or cup
  5. Add 2 scoops of the Hibiscus Matcha slushie on top
  6. Garnish with fresh blueberries and halved strawberries and basil
  7. Enjoy!

The creamy coconut based non-dairy ice cream not only keeps this recipe vegan, but also adds the perfect creamy compliment to the Hibiscus Matcha Slushie portion. You can also just make the slushie on it’s own! We definitely recommend keeping in the basil, though. But whatever you make, we’d love to hear how it tasted and see a picture!

Suggested Variations:

  1. Add 1 Tbsp of Yuzu Juice to the Hibiscus Matcha Smoothie when blending
  2. Blend all ingredients together at once instead of keeping separate
  3. Mix Hibiscus Matcha in water like normal and freeze into ice cubes before blending
  4. Add mint
  5. Add 1 tsp Sugimoto America Organic Mint Matcha
  6. Substitute 1 Tbsp Sugimoto America Lemon Matcha for 1 Tbsp SA Hibiscus Matcha
  7. Blend in 1 sprig of basil
  8. Pour on top of coconut pineapple ice cream
