Description

Shino Ware (志野焼) is one of many styles within Mino-Yaki. Dating from the 16th century, it is still sought after by modern tea practitioners for its characteristic thick milk-white glaze textured with small holes along with brushwork depictions of seasonal flora. As its name suggests, the design captures sakura in full bloom with delicate petals that nearly obscure the branches underneath.

A deep, cylindrically-shaped Chawan helps in whisking by providing ample room for the Chasen to move back and forth (the movement necessary to produce froth and dissolve the Matcha powder). Its robust shape also sits nicely in both hands. These Chawan are accompanied by a green paperboard gift box for storage.

Please note that each item is exquisitely hand-crafted and unique so the shipped pieces may not exactly match the photo.
