"Mizuki" means celebration, happiness, fresh, and beautiful. It was chosen to represent a beautiful green tea field and perfectly describes this incredible ceremonial grade matcha from Yame, Fukuoka. Thick and creamy, this matcha is intensely nutty in aroma and flavor, similar to fresh pine nuts. It's rich in umami and has no astringency. When it's gone, it leaves a lingering steamed milk finish.

Smooth Sailing

I had the pleasure of trying this through the Ohio Tea Company. It is highly recommended to drink this plain. The notes are incredible, and while the chocolate and creamy notes would be slightly enhanced with milk, ultimately, it would be a crying shame as the other flavors would be lost. Dry Aroma: Chocolate. Fresh leaves being processed. Somewhat creamy. Slight umami on the back. Dry Taste: Intense umami. Mouth watering. Ugh, I can’t wait to drink this. Feel: SMOOOTH. So smooth. In both finger texture and mouth feel. Flavor: Chocolate. Both bitter chocolate and milk chocolate. Also, a bit of burnt chocolate. The umami is very nice and plays nicely with the creamy notes.

Amazing Matcha

Flavor is very smooth and earthy. Tastes amazing on its own or made into an iced strawberry matcha, which is my favorite way to enjoy matcha in the summer. Will be buying more! I also can’t wait to try the ceremonial matcha

Unexpected Surprise

I have a very refined palate for Matcha. I love to try different brands, but it is especially important for me to support businesses that credit the farmers and that are transparent with their sourcing. I only purchased from this brand because their Black Friday deal was very good. I had not heard much about Sugimoto tea before, so I did not have high expectations. I gasped in joy once I saw the gorgeous shade of emerald green in this pouch. It smelled delicious - like delectable creamy buttermilk. And the taste! I have yet to find any notes like this. This Matcha is a light yet full-bodied umami bomb with the perfect amount of astringency and just a hint of bitter and salty. It's creamy, somewhat nutty, and robust but so light to the palate. It reminds me of dark chocolate - What a find! I can't wait to purchase more once they restock.
