Tea Leaves Fried Rice

Ingredients (2 servings):

  • 2 cups of cooked rice (a day old rice is preferred)
  • 2 tbsp used tea leaves
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 slices of bacon, sliced
  • ½ tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 stalks of green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp dashi powder
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise


Step 1: In a large bowl, add cooked rice, beaten eggs, dashi powder, and mayonnaise. Mix them together and set it aside.
Step 2: In a wok or large pan, add sesame oil and heat it over medium heat. Once it’s heated, add sliced bacon and white part of green onions. Cook till green onions start browning.
Step 3: Add the rice mixture and used tea leaves. Mix everything together and cook till there’s no more excess moisture.
Step 4: Pour soy sauce around the edges of the pot, stir, and mix until combined.
Step 5: Transfer the rice to serving plates and top the rice with green part of green onions. Ready to serve!
