Description

Teapots of the Tokoname ware (常滑焼), one of the six original kiln traditions in Japan, have a history dating back to the Heian Period, over 900 years ago. The clay of these kyusu react with tannins in tea to decrease bitterness. Imbued with the local charm of the Tokoname region, each kyusu becomes more lustrous with use and comes to reflect the individual character of its owner. The teapot has a mesh lining (=filter) inside. Carefully crafted in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

What a difference!

I thought I was improving my tea taste and enjoyment when I changed from tea bags to loose tea. That was just a baby step! Moving from loose tea restrained in a ball infuser to brewing my favorite gyokuro in this Tokoname Kyusu ups the flavor profile ten-fold. I so look forward to my next cup of tea.

Exactly what I was hoping for!

This is the perfect size kyusu for my everyday green tea, plus I love the traditional color and clay. It was delivered quickly and packaged safely and beautifully. I am very pleased with this purchase!

I really like it.

So this is my first kyusu purchase, and I am not disappointed. The teapot is very light in weight, and very easy to control pouring your tea. I really enjoy using this kyusu to brew my hojicha, and other green teas.
